The Dean Goods was the workhorse of the GWR goods department from 1883 until the twilight of the Steam era. The final locomotive was withdrawn in 1957. The class had become the standard locos for the lightly built and winding Welsh lines by their withdrawal.

The GWR only suffered from heavy snow intermittently in the South of the country, hence they invested in a series of snow ploughs which were stored during the mild winter, but capable of being quickly put into use as required.

The Dean Goods was ideal for this sort of role, being a wide spread loco which could travel on any line - including the lighter laid and more weather prone Welsh lines.

Our model recreates a very unusualfeature - but what an incredible sight it must have been attacking a snow drift!

After an initial disappointment, the model was replaced most promptly. The model performed flawlessly and is a great addition to my stud. The general finish and attention to detail is excellent and the mechanism is smooth and responsive. The only improvement I can think of would be a suitable crew. Overall, excellent. JSM

Smart little model

Very well constructed model. Although primarily made as with snowplow, also are are included buffers if you would rather not have the snowplow on the loco.

Replacement item - An Example of Excellent Service

The item that i received far surpassed my expectations. I had originally bought this item at a model fair previously and was in the process of upgrading it to DCC, as this was the DCC ready version. The original locomotive had not been run to this point, on programming the DCC chip that was installed it short circuited. A second chip was installed, same again. On finding the problem, i contacted Oxford Diecast, who kindly offered to replace the locomotive. The swap was simple, and the arrival of the new version, installed the DCC chop, programmed it successfully. The speed range and model itself is fantastic. It can be run with and without the snowplough. Detail wise for the money is a great addition to any railway ! RECOMMENDED MODEL AND SERVICE
