A brief introduction to the VW Golf & our Volkswagen Golf model cars

The Volkswagen Golf was first introduced in 1974 as a replacement for the Beetle. It was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and featured a front-mounted, water-cooled engine. The Golf was produced by Volkswagen's Audi subsidiary and sold as the Audi 50 in Europe. The Golf has been updated several times since its introduction, with new versions being released every few years. Today, the Golf is available with either front or all-wheel drive, in either hatchback or sedan body styles. At Oxford Diecast, we have a great appreciation for the VW Golf and that’s why we stock Volkswagen golf model cars. We have fantastic MK2 and MK5 models that are sure to stand out within your diecast collection.

About the VW Golf

The Volkswagen Golf is a subcompact car designed to be affordable and reliable. The hatchback could be driven on dirt roads, so it had to be tough and durable. It was originally available with a 1.1-litre engine, but it was upgraded to a more powerful 1.5-litre engine in 1975. These first-generation Golfs were built until 1979 when they were replaced by the new second-generation. The second generation of Golfs included several improvements over the original design: they had better suspension systems, larger engines, and improved interior features like better seats and more storage space for luggage. The second-generation golf was produced from 1980-1983, 1984-1986 and again from 1990 until 1992 (these last few years are known as "Euro" models). In 1993 Volkswagen introduced its third generation of Golfs; these cars featured all-new styling inside and out as well as many technical innovations like ABS brakes and airbags for safety purposes.

VW Golf from 1974-1990

The Volkswagen Golf is a compact car that was first introduced in 1974. The original Golf was available as a two-door vehicle, with rear-wheel drive and a front-mounted engine. The first generation of golf was produced from 1974 until 1983. During this time, the Golf saw its first redesign in 1979, which included larger taillights and turn signals that were integrated into the headlights. It also featured a new dashboard design and updated bumpers. In 1983, Volkswagen released the second generation of Golfs, which had more rounded edges than the previous version. This generation included an updated suspension system that offered improved handling and stability while driving on rough roads.

VW Golf from 1991-1995

In 1991, Volkswagen released the third generation of Golfs. This version included many changes such as improved fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and better performance overall. It also featured new technology such as ABS brakes and electronic stability control systems which made driving safer than ever before! In 1995, Volkswagen released its fourth generation of Golfs with even more improvements including increased safety features such as dual airbags for both driver and passenger seats along with side impact protection beams located within each door frame itself!
